Job summary

Family Dollar in Shreveport, LA is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help oversee daily store operations, elevate customer service, and develop the store team.

You will assist with opening/closing procedures, merchandising, payroll, scheduling, loss prevention, and ensuring a safe, clean environment for customers and associates. This role requires strong communication and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and meet physical demands of frequent movement
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment
• Excellent customer service, organizational and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Organize and transfer merchandise from truck to stockroom and sales floor
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of fixtures and displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise and handling payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits
