Role Overview

The primary responsibility of a Family Farm and Home Store Manager - Unassigned is to learn the company culture by supporting its core philosophies. Candidates should have strong leadership skills to motivate and supervise staff. The role involves learning about merchandising, shrink control, and store operations. A successful candidate will understand their local market, customer base, seasonal opportunities, competitors, and other factors influencing the business. The Store Manager - Unassigned acts as a role model, leader, problem-solver, and strategic thinker, managing time effectively to meet goals.

This role involves a learning period of 6 to 12 months, after which relocation may be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Promote Family Farm and Home's mission and values.
2. Foster an aggressive sales culture with a focus on superior customer service.
3. Maintain a motivated team through hiring, coaching, counseling, disciplining, and firing as needed; monitor and evaluate job results.
4. Maintain professionalism and positive store morale.
5. Ensure all store responsibilities are executed effectively by team members and personal actions.
6. Schedule and assign tasks, follow up on work results.
7. Provide feedback to company officials such as buyers and district managers.
8. Take full profit and loss accountability for the store.
9. Assist in preparing budgets, monitor expenditures, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions.
10. Engage with customers to understand their needs and establish rapport.
11. Support local community groups in line with company values.
12. Manage inventory and contracts to ensure product availability.
13. Protect assets and inventory against theft and damage.
14. Ensure merchandise is received, stored, and displayed according to safety and operational standards.
15. Maintain a safe, clean environment to protect employees and customers.
16. Review financial and operational data to inform marketing strategies.
17. Stay updated through educational workshops, publications, and networking.
18. Enforce operational and personnel policies consistently.
19. Perform other duties as assigned.

Manager Trainee Requirements

Successful candidates demonstrate leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage with limited supervision. Good communication skills are essential for interacting with customers, vendors, and staff. Candidates should understand customer service, management, and organizational skills, and be comfortable interpreting data for store management. Physical requirements include standing for extended periods, handling merchandise, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Flexibility for working weekends, evenings, and holidays is necessary.
