Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory, receiving, inventory control, and store needs. This role develops external candidates for the Store Manager track and is limited in duration.

Responsibilities include recruiting, merchandising, inventory management, ordering, cashier accountability, and store safety. The role requires strong math, reading, and communication skills and may involve travel between stores.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1+ year retail experience preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret safety and operating instructions.
• Knowledge of cash handling, deposits and register procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and price setup.
• Manage inventory, damages, markdowns, and receipts.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model for store policies and procedures.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposits and cash control.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and variances.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on time.
