Job summary

Goodwill NCW seeks an experienced store leadership professional to oversee operations at the Appleton-area stores and support other locations as needed. The role focuses on developing teams, managing donations, and driving store performance.

You will lead hiring, training, scheduling, budgeting, and implementing processes that align with mission-focused goals while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. This is a full-time, on-site position requiring flexibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Willingness to travel to different store locations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support store locations by stepping into leadership roles as needed.
  • Oversee donation door to floor process ensuring smooth operations.
  • Implement strategies to meet or exceed sales and production forecasts.
  • Manage financial and operational status, including staffing and scheduling.
  • Develop and enforce SOPs for store presentation and safety.
  • Coach and develop team members; hire and onboard staff.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and safety standards.
  • Collaborate on marketing, advertising, and community outreach.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Get To Do:
  • Serves as a resource leader, supporting other store locations by stepping in to fill leadership openings as needed, including traveling to different stores to ensure continuity, stability, and operational success.
  • Oversees the donation door to store floor process, ensuring proper stewardship of all donations and creating a customer-centric experience for our shoppers.
  • Implements business strategies to ensure store is meeting or exceeding their forecasted sales and production plans. Responsible for the financial and operational status in assigned store, including people, sales, staffing, scheduling, payroll, store growth, expenses, mission integration, budgeting, and safety.
  • Implements and sustains department standard operating procedures to maintain standards of store presentation, organization, facility layout and maintenance, quality control, safety standards, and all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Manages change through effective planning, communication, and coaching.
  • Maintains a consistent presence through the store, engaging and seeking feedback from team members.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance, conducts facility and equipment audits, and promotes safe work practices aligned with safety standards.
  • Implements marketing, advertising, and communication strategies and works with community members on mission awareness and advancement.
  • Leads team through hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, mentoring and development of team members to create a high performing team including cross training of skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What We Need From You:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills and the ability to work through multiple tasks simultaneously under time constraints.
  • Excellent communication, customer service and attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • At least a basic level of competency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook.
  • Experience with reporting and dashboard tools.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and the ability to travel to other locations is required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, evenings, and weekends, with regular and timely attendance in accordance with the assigned work schedule.

  • Work is performed primarily in a standard retail backroom or warehouse environment with extensive team member contact and frequent interruptions.
  • Primary function requires sufficient physical ability to repetitively:
  • Sit or stand for prolonged periods of time (up to 8 hours).
  • Independently twist, lift, carry, push or pull moderate (10 pounds) to heavy (25 pounds) of weight; using a team lift for objects weighing over 25 pounds.
  • Reach (approximately 54 inches).
  • Frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch.
  • Sufficient hand and finger dexterity to perform detailed tasks.
  • Verbally communicate to exchange information.
