Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate in Indianapolis, IN to support the Store Manager in daily operations. You will help with staffing, merchandising, inventory, and cash control while ensuring customer service excellence.

The role involves participating in opening/closing, reviewing sales and inventory data, and maintaining safety compliance. Some travel to other stores may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations and cash handling.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and perform IBM cash register functions, including report generation.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise.
• Assist in inventory management, including damages, markdowns, reporting, and controls.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Open/close the store and maintain cash controls and security.
• Review operating statements to identify business trends, expenses, shrink, and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on schedule.
