Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to oversee daily operations, lead a team, manage staffing, ordering, receiving, stocking and merchandising to drive sales and customer satisfaction.

You will train employees, conduct evaluations, ensure cash controls and safety policies, and keep the store well organized and compliant. Prior retail management experience preferred; high school diploma required; bilingual Spanish a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Effective oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and retain qualified employees per laws and company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provide training for employees; conduct performance evaluations; identify gaps for solutions.
• Make recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinate meetings to ensure safety and policies.
• Open and close the store as required; maintain a safe and secure environment.
• Evaluate operating statements to identify sales trends, expenses, and inventory issues.
• Ensure stock targets are met; monitor ordering and cycle counts weekly.
• Maintain accurate inventory and proper cash controls; ensure cash accountability.
