The Store Manager In Training (SMIT) job is a development-focused role designed to prepare you for a CVS Store Manager position.

The SMIT program enhances your career as a future store leader through a self-paced, collaborative training over 16 weeks, including virtual and hands-on learning experiences.

Our team supporting your growth includes your District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and your Store Manager coach.

Skills Needed for This Role
  • Effective verbal and written communication to support and lead your team.
  • Customer care duties to provide high levels of service.
  • Executing merchandising strategies to support store sales growth.
  • Managing store inventory and assets to maintain profitability.

We expect our SMITs to:

  • Engage actively with your leader during Key Learning Experiences to support your promotion path.
  • Support your store as a management team member, leading in line with CVS values and policies.
  • Engage colleagues to support the company's purpose of "helping people on their path to better health."
  • Be willing to accept promotion roles within the market.

Note: Selection for the SMIT position does not guarantee promotion to Store Manager; promotion depends on performance and availability.

  • Willingness to accept a promotion to Store Manager at any location within the market.
  • Ability to transfer to other CVS stores within the market.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules based on business needs.
  • High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred, or relevant work experience considered.

Anticipated Weekly Hours: 40

Time Type: Full-time

Pay Range: $18.50 - $26.25 per hour, depending on experience, education, and location.
