Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in daily retail operations, supervision of staff, inventory management, merchandising, and finances. The role supports a fast-paced store environment with a focus on accuracy, customer service, and compliance.

The position requires a high school diploma, retail experience preferred, and strong cash handling and reporting capabilities. Travel to nearby stores for coverage and opening/closing duties may be necessary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates
• Ability to supervise staff and manage store operations
• Strong cash handling and cash reporting skills

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise according to store manager directions.
• Assist in inventory management including damages, markdowns, scanning, and paperwork.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Model company procedures and policies per handbook and SOPs.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of all company funds in the bank.
• Support financial integrity through cashier accountability and controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate store in the manager’s absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities for cost control.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on time.
