Job summary

Parkrose-Hardware in West Linn, OR is seeking a Store Manager to lead day-to-day operations, drive sales and profitability, and deliver outstanding customer experiences. You will model integrity, manage merchandising, staff development, and local market responsiveness.

Responsibilities include customer service, budgeting, payroll, inventory control, safety, employee relations, and training. The role requires strong leadership, communication skills, and the ability to work weekends and holidays.

Store Managers are responsible for the complete day-to-day operation of the store, maximizing store sales and profitability while ensuring exceptional customer experiences. They instill CNRG’s culture and values, operate with integrity, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. The Store Manager should have comprehensive expertise in merchandising and store operations, knowledge of the local market, customer base, seasonality, competition, and other local factors that influence the business. The Store Manager is a role model, leader, problem solver, and is responsible for time management to achieve budget results.

Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Perform sales counter and point-of-sale functions, and store administrative tasks as needed; lead by example in delivering exceptional service; train and motivate the sales team; cultivate satisfied customers; respond to complaints and resolve them quickly; maintain proper merchandising according to local and corporate directives; organize processes to ensure timely, complete customer deliveries; motivate contractor sales personnel to prospect new business while serving existing customers.
  • Budgets & Payroll: Drive store sales and profit to exceed budgets; understand factors affecting financial performance and be accountable for results; control costs and schedule payroll to align with labor productivity and customer service goals.
  • Inventory Control: Record all inventory movements accurately to detect and prevent shrinkage; maintain appropriate stock levels to meet customer needs while aligning with inventory investment goals; keep inventory clean and orderly; ensure proper receiving and storage by warehouse and yard personnel.
  • Safety & Loss Prevention: Promote a safety-first environment; maintain knowledge of security measures; ensure equipment is safe; conduct regular safety meetings; protect inventory from loss and theft.
  • Employee Relations: Recruit, select, and train key staff; foster a team environment; provide access to resources; publish schedules and ensure accurate hours; maintain a productive and motivating work environment; encourage open communication for problem reporting and ideas.
  • Communication: Comply with company policies; monitor communications and respond timely; lead monthly store meetings; utilize the Resource Center for information and reporting; report problems, obstacles, and improvement ideas to management.
  • Coaching & Training: Create an engaging work environment; set goals, provide feedback, and address performance issues; supervise and mentor store and yard employees; develop assistants and other potential leaders; direct associates to training opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the store manager’s supervisor or corporate representatives.
Qualifications

Must demonstrate strong leadership and problem-solving abilities, work well with limited supervision, and possess excellent communication and organizational skills. Must be detail-oriented, able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, and flexible to work weekends, evenings, and holidays. Must have numeric and business literacy to interpret data for merchandise and operations decisions. Knowledge of retail building materials, home improvement and hardware products, and general retail operations is preferred. Ability to manage physical assets and perform physical work including lifting up to 100 pounds, reaching items on shelves, and climbing ladders is required.

Pay - $80,000.00 per year
