Position Summary:

Responsible for making daily assessments of the store's ability to meet/exceed customer expectations for ease of shopping, variety, freshness, cleanliness, food safety, and regulatory compliance. Manage the overall day-to-day operations of the store, including training and developing effective store associates to achieve desired sales and profit results. Coach and develop all store associates through both formal and informal interactions. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead store teams in the planning, implementation, and execution of merchandising and operational initiatives to have the store customer-ready every day.
  2. Work with store assistant leaders, department leaders, and store associates to identify opportunities, develop solutions, and create action plans for implementation.
  3. Achieve or exceed weekly, period, and annual sales, revenue, and profit goals.
  4. Drive cost-effective sales by collaborating with store leaders to maximize sales, reduce shrink, and improve departmental contributions.
  5. Discuss store-level financial performance, including developing budgets and targeted goals with store leaders.
  6. Understand and respond to the competitive landscape within the district and store.
  7. Demonstrate inclusive leadership, expect inclusive behavior from associates, and support store, district, and division teams.
  8. Utilize field merchandising teams to help store departments achieve financial goals and ensure communication and execution of marketing plans.
  9. Promote strong relationships with local community organizations served by the store.
  10. Build proactive relationships with union officials if the store is covered by a collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
  11. Communicate necessary information to store associates to enable effective duties execution.
  12. Oversee and manage store staffing, retention, and turnover reduction.
  13. Provide timely feedback on individual and departmental performance.
  14. Manage labor and supply costs daily to meet customer service and financial targets.
  15. Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and division policies.
  16. Maintain technical and professional skills, staying current with industry trends.
  17. Supervise and coach direct reports, complete performance reviews, and provide feedback.
  18. Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. 3+ years of experience and satisfactory performance as an assistant store leader or similar role.
  3. Successful completion of the division's Leadership Essentials Program.
  4. Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
  5. Experience overseeing financial responsibilities, including budget preparation and management.
  6. Additional retail and supervisory experience of 3+ years.
