Job description

Are you interested in pursuing meaningful work? Are you interested in ending intimate partner violence in Tarrant County? The Archway is Tarrant County’s only state-designated family violence program – this means we have the honor of working alongside domestic violence victims to keep them safe and simultaneously do our part in holding offenders accountable. We offer flexible work-life balance and an opportunity to change the community – and the world. We are excited to welcome new staff into our family and to work on this critical, life-saving mission together.

The Archway is seeking a Store Manager for Berry Good Buys.
Store Manager — Berry Good Buys

Berry Good Buys is not your average thrift store.

Our customers regularly discover designer clothing, quality home goods, collectibles, and unexpected treasures - all high quality, curated donations from around Fort Worth and the larger Metroplex. We are selective about what reaches the sales floor: no stained clothing, no damaged merchandise, and no “good enough.” The store is clean, welcoming, thoughtfully merchandised, and a genuine source of pride for The Archway.

It is also a busy urban thrift store, and running it well requires someone practical, resilient, observant, and unflappable. The right manager will enjoy creating order from chaos, maintaining high standards, leading a diverse team, solving problems in real time, and treating every customer and donor with dignity.

Most importantly, every dollar raised by Berry Good Buys supports The Archway’s work serving survivors of domestic violence. This is retail management with a purpose.

About the Role

The Store Manager has overall responsibility for the daily operations, financial performance, team leadership, safety, appearance, and long-term success of Berry Good Buys.

This is a hands-on leadership position. On any given day, the Store Manager may coach an employee, evaluate and price a high-end donation, rearrange a display, address a customer concern, complete a bank deposit, review sales results, or respond to one of the unpredictable situations that comes with operating a community thrift store.

The Store Manager must be able to maintain a calm, professional, and welcoming environment while holding the team accountable and keeping the store focused on its financial and mission goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet monthly and annual sales and revenue goals
  • Lead, supervise, schedule, coach, and hold store employees accountable
  • Build a dependable team culture grounded in professionalism, respect, and excellent customer service
  • Oversee daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, deposits, and POS activity
  • Evaluate, price, merchandise, and oversee the sale of donated goods, including higher-end and specialty items
  • Maintain consistently high standards for cleanliness, organization, merchandising, and the overall appearance of the store
  • Provide a positive experience for customers, donors, volunteers, and community partners
  • Address employee, customer, safety, theft, and facility concerns calmly and appropriately
  • Complete timely and accurate financial, operational, and personnel reporting
  • Monitor sales trends and identify opportunities to improve revenue, efficiency, and the customer experience
  • Work with agency leadership to plan for the store’s continued growth and long-term success
  • Represent The Archway and its mission professionally in the community
Who Will Thrive in This Role

This role is a strong fit for someone who:

  • Takes real satisfaction in making a store look beautiful, organized, and inviting
  • Can recognize quality and understands how to price and merchandise a wide variety of donated items
  • Is equally comfortable working with customers, donors, employees, and agency leadership
  • Can be kind without avoiding accountability
  • Remains calm and makes good decisions when circumstances are messy or unpredictable
  • Notices what needs to be done and takes ownership of getting it done
  • Understands that strong financial performance directly supports services for survivors
  • Wants meaningful responsibility and the opportunity to shape the success of a beloved community store

The Archway values employees who are curious, trustworthy, flexible, accountable, and open communicators. Working in the domestic violence field along with operating a mission-driven community store can be hard. As we say often at The Archway: we can do hard things. We are looking for a manager who believes that too.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least three years of experience in retail sales, merchandising, or store operations
  • Supervisory experience in a retail environment
  • Thrift, resale, consignment, furniture, or donation-based retail experience is a plus but not required
  • Understanding of basic retail and inventory principles
  • Strong math, cash-handling, and organizational skills
  • Basic knowledge of POS systems and computers, including proficiency with Microsoft Outlook
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team while collaborating effectively with others
  • Ability to work professionally and respectfully with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and circumstances
  • Ability to respond appropriately to challenging customer, personnel, and community situations
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move merchandise for extended periods
  • Ability to pass a background check
