Responsibilities

  • Meet sales, production, and expense budget goals to maintain a profitable operation.
  • Display merchandise properly and keep back room production organized.
  • Receive applications, interview applicants, and recommend hires.
  • Evaluate staff, identify development needs, and arrange training as needed.
  • Conduct monthly staff and safety meetings and ensure safety compliance.
  • Schedule staff to ensure full store coverage and post weekly schedules.
  • Review timecards and paid time off for employees each pay period.
  • Order merchandise and maintain stock; ensure ragged out and colorized displays.
  • Provide training and supervision for new employees and retraining as necessary.
  • Safeguard cash and handle end-of-day banking per policy.
  • Complete paperwork and sales reports for finance daily.
  • Report inspections and verify credentials when required.
  • Attend manager meetings and communicate policy changes.
  • Protect property and report hazards or damages.
  • May work at other store locations as needed.
  • Support work therapy program by modeling professional conduct and work habits.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or Administrator.

Job description

Function: The Store Manager will create and sustain a pleasant and hospitable work environment and excellent customer relationships in order to motivate staff and meet sales goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for creating a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintain good customer relationships.
  • Be well-versed in and ensure compliance to accounting, employee, and store policies.
  • Meet sales, production, and expense budget goals to maintain a profitable operation.
  • Ensure that all production is taken from the back room and properly displayed on the sales floor.
  • Receive applications, participate in interviewing applicants when needed, and recommend applicants for employment to the Administrator, Store Supervisor, or designate.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of store personnel, identifying performance strengths and areas of development. Recommend training as necessary. Prepare written warnings as needed.
  • Conduct monthly staff and safety meetings. Ensure that all safety measures are consistent with The Salvation Army policy and Government regulations and all personnel are complying.
  • Schedule all sales associates (and unpaid staff) to ensure full coverage in store at all times. Post weekly work schedules for all store personnel. This must include assignment, breaks, vacation, etc.
  • Review and approve timecards and paid time off for employees each pay period by the required deadline.
  • Responsible for ordering merchandise to keep the store well stocked. Ensure all merchandise is "ragged out" and colorized in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.
  • Provide training, direction, and supervision for new employees along with retraining for all personnel, as necessary.
  • Responsible for the proper accounting and banking of cash receipts at end of business day. Safeguard cash at all times. See "Safekeeping of Salvation Army Funds" policy.
  • Ensure that all paperwork and sales reports are completed and forwarded to the finance department daily.
  • Report to Administrator any site visits and/or communication from OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health and CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) Fire/Building/City/Town/Local inspector. Verify inspector credentials by getting business card and contact details to forward to Administrator.
  • Attend manager meetings and keep store personnel informed of new policies and directives.
  • Responsible for protection of property and buildings. Report safety hazards, property damage and personal injuries to Administrator, Store Supervisor, or designee.
  • May be asked to fill in at other store locations.
  • This position will support the work therapy program component of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers by providing beneficiaries with an example of professional conduct and work habits.
  • Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and/or Administrator.
