Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory, merchandising, and store operations. This role is designed to foster the external candidate for the Store Manager position over a limited period.

You will lead in customer service, assist with opening/closing, ensure cash controls, and supervise team members to uphold company policies. Prior retail experience is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret documents such as diagrams and safety rules.
• Perform basic math calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposit controls.
• Learn IBM cash register functions and reporting.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising.
• Know cash, safety and access policies (deposits, keys, safety programs).
• Understand recruiting, interviewing, hiring and internal processes.
• Strong verbal and written communication; effective interpersonal skills.
• Strong organization and attention to detail.
• Ability to solve problems with limited standardization.
• Preference for bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and pricing according to SOP.
• Support inventory management, damages, and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership.
• Model company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds and cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in the manager's absence and review operating statements.
