Job summary

Dollar General Store Manager Candidate supports the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking and receiving. This role develops external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

You will assist in recruiting, merchandising, cash handling, opening and closing, and ensuring financial integrity while maintaining a safe, clean store. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred at certain locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise according to established practices.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and prepare inventories.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Open and close the store as needed and ensure cash handling integrity.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and well-stocked store environment.
• Operate store in the absence of the store manager.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete paperwork and documentation within deadlines.
