Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist in running a busy store in Golden Valley, AZ. You will help supervise staff, manage inventory and merchandising, and uphold cash controls while ensuring excellent customer service.

Applicants should be prepared to support store operations, open/close procedures, and daily administrative tasks, with opportunities for growth toward a Store Manager role.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and operating manuals.
• Ability to perform basic math including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety policies (deposits, keys, SAFE/STARS).
• Experience with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination including legal compliance.
• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organization and attention to detail.
• Bilingual Spanish speakers preferred at some locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and staging of merchandise according to established practices.
• Assist in inventory management including damages, markdowns, and paperwork; conduct inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership.
• Follow company procedures and policies as outlined in handbook and SOPs.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds and maintain cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities; monitor expenses and shrink.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
