Job summary

Dollar General Store Manager Candidate in West Virginia supports the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising staff, and managing inventory, stocking and receiving. This role handles store paperwork and daily operations to keep the store running smoothly.

Designed to develop external candidates for the Store Manager role, the position is limited in duration. Travel between nearby stores may be required; strong cash handling, safety compliance and customer service are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform basic math and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred at some locations.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with merchandising, staging, stocking, and pricing per store direction.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and controls.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership.
• Open and close the store as needed.
• Ensure cash controls and secure deposits.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked store and safe environment.
• Operate store in manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on deadlines.
