Job summary

Dollar General Corporation seeks an Assistant Store Manager to maintain a clean, well-organized store with a customer-first focus. Under the Store Manager's direction, you will supervise staff, manage merchandise presentation, and ensure deposits and paperwork are completed accurately.

You will assist with scheduling, training, planograms, and inventory control while protecting assets and reducing losses. This role prioritizes customer service and profitability in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret basic documents and procedures.
• Ability to perform cash handling and basic calculations.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet customers and operate cash register to itemize purchases.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees and training; conduct safety meetings and enforce policies.
• Follow processes to manage merchandise: receiving, stocking, restocking and displays.
• Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy and limit damages and losses.
• Support planograms implementation and merchandise presentation as directed.
• Assist in ensuring cashier integrity, deposits, and refunds; count tills and deposit cash.
• Help manage the store in the Store Manager's absence.
