Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service and team development in Evansville, IN. You will assist with day-to-day activities, help customers, organize merchandise, and participate in payroll, scheduling, and loss prevention duties.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, store management experience preferred, and the ability to lift up to 55 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, and lifting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and store communications.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits.
• Maintain well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure staff follow procedures.
• Supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Foster a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep store clean, restock bathrooms, sweep/mop floors, and manage trash.
• Other duties as assigned.
