Job summary

Kohl’s is seeking a Store Manager in California to lead the full store team and drive exceptional customer experience, merchandising excellence, and operational execution. You will coach and develop associates, manage payroll and staffing, and own KPIs to maximize sales and profitability.

You will oversee hiring decisions, training, loss prevention collaboration, and ensure standards across pricing and merchandising while maintaining an engaging, inclusive store culture.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Experience supervising 20 or more associates, including performance management and employment decisions.
• Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong people management and talent development skills.
• Flexible availability including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Guide profitable sales and achieve store financial plans and performance goals through leadership.
• Manage payroll planning by scheduling and labor cost control based on weekly/monthly sales.
• Recruit and hire staff; make employment decisions across store levels.
• Handle associate relations issues and ensure policy adherence.
• Oversee training for new hires on Kohl’s culture, product knowledge, and selling practices.
• Coach and develop associates; create succession plans for talent.
• Ensure accurate inventory processes and price changes; maintain merchandising presentation.
• Prevent loss by monitoring store activity and partnering with Loss Prevention.
• Maintain compelling store presentation and floor replenishment based on layout and needs.
• Create a strong customer service culture; ensure fast checkout and exceed customer expectations.
• Monitor KPIs and allocate resources to meet workload demands.
