Job summary

Qualifications

• Reads and interprets diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Performs basic math calculations including percentages.
• Understands cash handling procedures and deposit control.
• Operates IBM cash register and generates reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Interacts well with staff and customers to maintain a positive environment.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance.
• Familiar with cash, facility and safety control policies (deposits, store keys, SAFE program).
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Solves problems and adapts to diverse situations; bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees in compliance with labor laws.
• Provide training, conduct performance evaluations and counsel staff.
• Contribute to decisions on pay rates and advancement.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and events.
• Open and close the store as needed and ensure proper staffing.
