Job summary

Dollar General in Lafayette, TN is hiring a Cashier/Stocker to lead in the absence of store management and to deliver excellent customer service. You will manage stock, greet customers, operate the register, and help maintain plan-o-grams and floor displays.

The role requires basic math, cash handling, and teamwork in a fast-paced store. High school diploma preferred and prior cashier or supervisory exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices.
• Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills.
• Understanding of plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks and stock merchandise; rotate and face stock on shelves and build displays.
• Operate cash register, itemize and total purchases, and bag merchandise; collect payment and give change.
• Greet customers and assist in locating merchandise; maintain store cleanliness and organization.
• In the absence of store management, authorize refunds/overrides and help with cashier accountability and security procedures.
• Open/close store under direction of Area Manager and ensure friendly, safe, and secure shopping environment.
