The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role providing work assignments and training opportunities to prepare MITs for promotion into Retail/Commercial Store Management positions. Entry into the program may lead to management positions within approximately 8-12 weeks, depending on prior experience and performance.

Responsibilities

An MIT is a management team member expected to Live The Pledge, deliver WOW! Customer Service, and drive store performance. Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the MIT will maintain an engaged, productive team through strong leadership and initiative.

The MIT supports the Store Manager in:

• Overall store management, supervision, and policy implementation
• Financial management, including managing, analyzing, and reconciling monthly P&L statements
• Employee staffing, training, and development
• Inventory management
• Customer service leadership

MITs must complete operations and management skills training, learn about key business aspects and AutoZone culture, and demonstrate consistent progress to remain in the program and be considered for management openings.

Note: Promotion from MIT to Store Manager/Commercial Sales Manager is not guaranteed and depends on performance and available openings.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of retail management or supervisory experience
• Ability to work full-time with flexible hours, including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime
• Bilingual skills are preferred but not required
• Previous automotive experience is preferred but not required
• Experience analyzing financials, including Profit and Loss Statements, is preferred but not required
