Job description

Store - RAPID CITY, SD

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events (including kids birthday parties) within a Michaels store to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests. Deliver friendly customer service by helping customers shop at our store and find what they’re looking for. Ensure all customers receive a fast and friendly checkout experience. Complete operational tasks including truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards as needed to deliver our Brand Promises.

Event Coordination
  1. Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
  2. Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
  3. Demonstrate and instruct craft projects, perform face painting, and other activities.
  4. Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards.
  5. Communicate events with clients and store team members.
  6. Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed.
  7. Adjust plans and events based on client feedback and needs.
  8. Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed.
  9. Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
  10. Uphold the company’s cleanliness and safety standards. Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
Customer Experience
  1. Help customers shop, locate products, and provide solutions.
  2. Provide fast and friendly checkout experience.
  3. Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments.
  4. Educate customers on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey.
  5. Assist with Omni channel processes, including BOPIS and SFS.
  6. Participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram (POGs) processes.
  7. Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance.
  8. Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned.
  9. Support shrink and safety programs.
  10. Adhere to SOPs and company policies to ensure legal compliance.
  11. Interact respectfully with others; remain positive; promote the organization’s vision and values; serve as a role model.
  12. Cross-train in Custom Framing selling and production.
  13. Participate in daily store cleanliness activities including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom maintenance.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Move throughout the store; perform bending, lifting, reaching, and stretching.
  • Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves with ladders or equipment.
  • Work may include outdoor activities, climate-controlled areas, and some work during nights, weekends, and early mornings.
