Job summary

Academy Sports + Outdoors in Madison, MS seeks a Store Director to lead store performance, customer experiences, and a culture of teamwork. You will set the store vision, manage merchandising, inventory, loss prevention, and spend oversight while developing talent.

You will coach department and assistant leaders, partner with regional teams, ensure compliance with firearms sales and certifications, and represent the store in the community to drive traffic and loyalty.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• 10 years of retail experience, including 7 years of progressive leadership responsibility.
• Demonstrated success leading retail teams, including salaried leaders and teams of 40-80 people.
• Strong customer service mindset with a focus on delivering exceptional in-store experiences.
• Demonstrated ability to drive sales, profitability, and operational execution.
• Experience managing store operations including merchandising, inventory, and loss prevention.
• Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, payroll, and expense control.
• Ability to communicate, interpret, and execute company policies and initiatives effectively.
• Willingness to travel periodically to support operations in other stores as needed.
• Audit firearm sales in compliance with federal and state requirements, including ATF Form 4473 completion.
• Complete and maintain required Firearms Sales and Power Industrial Truck certification.
• Ability to maintain Federal Firearms License (FFL) for the Store.

• Represent the store in the community, building relationships that drive traffic, brand loyalty, and sustained growth.
