Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Store Associate to assist customers, operate the cash register, and maintain clean, organized displays. You will handle sales, collect payments, issue receipts, and balance the drawer while following store policies to ensure accurate transactions.

Responsibilities include helping customers, explaining pricing, and maintaining a pleasant shopping experience in a retail setting. High school diploma or GED preferred; prior retail experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; retail experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Experience handling cash and operating a POS system is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ring up sales and process payments at the register.
• Balance cash drawer, prepare receipts and deposits.
• Assist customers by explaining store policies and pricing.

Schedule/Hours: 29 hours/week – Monday-FridayThis position is responsible for:Assists store customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items; operates and maintains a cash register; responds to customers’ questions; maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the store displays; ensures the security of store items and the cash register.Key Responsibilities:• Assists customers purchasing items from The Salvation Army by ringing-up sales utilizing a cash register.• Collects monies, counts change and prepares receipts.• Prepares and packages purchased items.• Prepares and balances the cash drawer and runs routine register print-outs; prepares and delivers bank deposits; ensures the security and accountability of all cash register funds and sales records in accordance with established operating procedures.• Assists customers by explaining store policy and responding to questions regarding the pricing and/or purchasing of items; ensures that all customers visiting the store have a pleasant experience.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:• Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to operate a cash register. Ability to perform routine mathematical computations and count change.
