Job summary

The Salvation Army in Front Royal, VA is seeking a friendly retail associate to assist customers, ring up sales, stock displays, and maintain checkout area.

You will handle cash, balance the drawer, and help process donations and purchases while following store procedures. The role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and weekend work.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail cash handling and customer service.
• Basic math skills for making change and receipts.
• Willingness to follow store procedures and loss-prevention rules.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers purchasing items and donate where applicable.
• Ring up sales, collect money, count change and prepare receipts.
• Maintain cleanliness and order of displays and checkout area.
• Balance cash drawer and prepare bank deposits as needed.

Schedule/Hours: Full-timeThis position is responsible for:Assists store customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items; operates and maintains a cash register; responds to customers questions; maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the store displays; ensures the security of store items and the cash register.Key Responsibilities:Assists customers purchasing items from The Salvation Army by ringing-up sales utilizing a cash register; collects monies, counts change and prepares receipts; prepares and packages purchased items; prepares and balances the cash drawer and runs routine register print-outs; prepares and delivers bank deposits; ensures the security and accountability of all cash register funds and sales records in accordance with established operating procedures.Prepares, processes and maintains various sales records, tax forms, and social service vouchers; prepares routine sales reports as directed.Maintains the neatness and security of the cash register area; ensures that forms, bags, etc. are adequately stocked.Places and arranges items in the store as directed; checks all store displays to ensure that items are maintained and displayed in a neat and orderly manner, rotates and/or rearranges stock as directed; returns items to the proper location after customer's have handled.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Work is performed in a stock room, warehouse or store environment where there are discomforts associated with changes in weather. There are occasional discomforts associated with noise, crowds, dust, lint, chemical odors and the like.Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull heavy (over 50lbs.) materials, supplies and equipment frequently.
