State of Indiana, Evansville State Hospital, is seeking a Stores Clerk to handle alterations, mending, and marking patient clothing, plus central warehouse distribution duties. You will ship, receive, and distribute merchandise for Evansville State Hospital and ensure accurate inventory records.

The role requires knowledge of requisitioning and inventory control, ability to train staff, and operate the forklift. A degree is not required; experience may be considered.

Our team of professionals assist our patients in the treatment process involving medical staff, nursing, psychology, social work, rehabilitation therapy and our community integration program. Evansville State Hospital continues to maintain accreditation through The Joint Commission as an Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital as well as Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services certification as a Psychiatric Medicare/Medicaid Hospital.

Role Overview:

Stores Clerk works as a seamstress, providing alterations, mending, and marking patient clothing. Also works at the central distribution/warehouse at Evansville State Hospital. Shipping, receiving and distribution of all merchandise received at Evansville State Hospital.

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $29,588.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

• Authorize the accuracy of all orders received in the storeroom and authorizeall goods received.
• Contactvendors regarding partial shipments and/or misorders.
• Maintaineddetailed inventory records and records of items ordered.
• Evaluateand recognizerecord-keeping or storage procedures as necessary.
• Ensureproper storage procedures and rotation of stock for perishable items.
• Makerecommendations on purchase of new equipment for warehouse and maintenance required in building.
• Overseeand assembles equipment received in “knocked down” condition.
• May ensure the security of incarcerated individuals staff assigned to the warehouse.

What You'll Need for Success:

Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

• Thorough knowledge of requisitioning and disbursing procedures, consumption rates of stored items and inventory control procedures.
• Thorough knowledge of stock items, their locations and the proper methods of storing a variety of goods and supplies based upon efficient space utilization and a variety of state and federal regulations.
• Practical knowledge of state regulations in handling and storing foodstuffs and perishables.
• Ability to train inmates and staff in proper operation of all equipment and proper methods of storage.
• Ability to maintain detailed, accurate inventory and purchasing records.
• Ability to operate forklift, hand-truck and other mechanical equipment in warehouse.

A degree is not required. However, experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.
