We are looking for a seasoned Storage System Administrator. This position requires a storage system administration background in support of the IRS MIDS contract and will handle a variety of Storage Admin responsibilities. This position is responsible for ensuring that all storage devices operate at optimum levels. The candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Should be comfortable working in a team environment and willing to work flexible hours. On-call and after hours support is a requirement of this position.
What you will do:
- Provide technical oversight of hardware and software systems, with a focus on storage area network administration.
- Provide professional service within the parameters specified in the site's service level agreement and/or that meet or exceed the customer requirements.
- Ensure system security is in compliance with customer policy including patching and auditing.
- Implement and maintain network standards and guidelines.
- Monitor system utilization including data storage management, performance metrics and service levels.
- Ensure reliable backup and recovery of necessary data.
- Develop and maintain an automated environment including reporting, event notifications and actions, software updates and service packs.
- Report on capacity and do proactive planning for additional storage.
- Allocate storage to servers, configure fiber channel switches, and capacity plan for the SAN.
- Coordinate and communicate activities, status updates, outage notifications and schedule information.
- Perform account maintenance.
- Troubleshoot network communications.
- Maintain and document SAN cabling plans. Install, configure, administer, and optimize servers (hardware and operating systems).
- Interface with users, which is an integral part of this role.
- Maintain network system documentation.
- Provide root cause analysis on major incidents/problems.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of experience. Additional 4 years of experience will be accepted in lieu of the degree.
- Storage Infrastructure administration experience.
- Virtual Machine management experience.
- Managing and Troubleshooting Servers experience.
- Virtual Network/Storage Architecture and Connectivity planning experience.
- Performance tuning & management experience.
- Familiarity with designing & implementing Storage Server Virtualization Solutions.
- Strong knowledge of Storage management tools.
- Knowledge of Remote system administration.
- Understanding of capacity planning, performance monitoring & tuning.
- Scripting knowledge for scripted installs, comfortable with using Virtual Center.
- Strong knowledge of Storage & Networking concepts.
- Able to contribute to internal knowledge management systems.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must have resided in the U.S. three of the last five years.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of monitoring tools like SNOW, VROPS, VRO, HPE One View.
- PowerShell/PowerCLI scripting experience is a plus.
- Experience with tools such as: remote system administration, automation and reduction of manual efforts through scripting/tools, Incident, Change & Problem Management, Configuration Management, Capacity Planning.

Salary Range
$86,000 - $138,000. This range depends on experience and other factors.
