We are looking for a seasoned Storage System Administrator. This position requires a storage system administration background in support of the IRS MIDS contract and will handle a variety of storage admin responsibilities. The candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, be comfortable working in a team environment, and willing to work flexible hours. On-call and after hours support is a requirement of this position.
What you will do:
- Provide technical oversight of hardware and software systems, focusing on storage area network administration.
- Deliver professional service within the parameters of the site's service level agreement and meet or exceed customer requirements.
- Ensure system security compliance, including patching and auditing.
- Implement and maintain network standards and guidelines.
- Monitor system utilization, data storage management, performance metrics, and service levels.
- Ensure reliable backup and recovery of data.
- Develop and maintain automated environments for reporting, event notifications, software updates, and service packs.
- Report on capacity and proactively plan for additional storage needs.
- Allocate storage to servers, configure fiber channel switches, and plan capacity for the SAN.
- Coordinate activities, communicate status updates, outage notifications, and schedule information.
- Perform account maintenance.
- Troubleshoot network communications.
- Maintain and document SAN cabling plans, install, configure, administer, and optimize servers (hardware and OS).
- Interface with users as an integral part of this role.
- Maintain network system documentation.
- Provide root cause analysis for major incidents and problems.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of experience, or 9 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- Experience in Storage Infrastructure administration.
- Experience managing Virtual Machines.
- Experience troubleshooting servers.
- Knowledge of Virtual Network/Storage Architecture and Connectivity planning.
- Performance tuning and management experience.
- Design and implement Storage Server Virtualization Solutions.
- Strong knowledge of Storage management tools.
- Knowledge of remote system administration.
- Understanding capacity planning, performance monitoring, and tuning.
- Scripting knowledge for scripted installs; familiarity with Virtual Center.
- Strong understanding of Storage & Networking concepts.
- Ability to contribute to internal knowledge management systems.
- Must be a US Citizen and have resided in the US for the last three years.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of monitoring tools like SNOW, VROPS, VRO, HPE One View.
- Scripting experience with PowerShell/PowerCLI.
- Experience with tools related to remote system administration, automation, incident, change, and problem management, configuration management, and capacity planning.
Overview and Compensation
Peraton is a national security company delivering solutions across land, sea, space, air, and cyberspace. The target salary range is $86,000 - $138,000, depending on experience and other factors.
