Job summary

U-Haul is seeking a Storage Center General Manager in Chicago to lead a high-volume retail operation. You will hire and mentor staff, manage inventory and fleet, and oversee the center’s profitability and customer service standards.

The role requires 1–3 years of retail management with P&L accountability, strong computer skills, and a valid driver's license. Weekend and holiday availability is expected.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of management experience in retail or another service industry with responsibility for financial results and customer satisfaction.
• Computer expertise.
• Organizational expertise.
• Management proficiency in high-volume retail with profit and loss (P&L) accountability.
• Valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a good driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform profit/loss analyses.
• Hire and mentor new team members.
• Track and itemize inventory.
• Manage the fleet to deliver clean and well-maintained equipment.
• Manage the personnel budget.
• Ensure that customers receive the highest quality of care.
• Keep track of fuel receipts and petty cash.
• Clean and monitor premises, and maintain a secure environment.
