Job summary

The Building Company is seeking a Stock Controller to coordinate incoming stock, manage stock levels, and optimize merchandising across the business. The role focuses on accurate receiving, GRN processing, and maintaining an efficient stock range.

You will perform cycle counts, investigate variances, manage supplier returns, and ensure stock is properly binned and reported. Strong attention to detail and experience in retail stock control are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have 3 years stock control experience.
• Certificate in Retailing (NQF 5) or Retail Operations Management (NQF 5) or equivalent.
• If no certificate, at least 3 of the listed skills programmes (stock handling, counts, loss control, replenishing, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Coordinate incoming stock (receiving, GRNing and merchandising).
• Maintain optimum stock levels and range for the business.
• Check stock reports and variances.
• Manage supplier returns and stock-out costs.
• Keep cycle counters up to date and ensure stock takes occur.
• Maintain bin locations and stock records.
• Investigate bad stock and negative stock scenarios.
• Run no stock, no demand reports and deletion reports.
• Ensure existing stock is binned and monitored.
• Provide variance data to operators and stakeholders.

Job Description

The main purpose of the job is to co-ordinate the incoming (receiving, GRNing and merchandising) of all stock for the business, as well as maintaining optimum stock levels and range for the business.

• Checking reports
• Check cost of Stock-outs
• Manage Supplier returns
• Keep Cycle Counter up to date
• Validate stock variances
• Negative Stock clearance
• Maintain Bin Locations
• Investigate bad risk stock
• Stock take
• Run no stock, no demand report
• Run Deletion reports
• Ensure Existing Stock are binned
• Monitor stock performance
• Provide Variance Data to Operator
• Providing the Operator with stock variance data for the 8 weeks cycle every month

Job Requirements

• Grade 12
• 3 years stock control experience, alternatively
• Certificate in Retailing (NQF 5), or
• Certificate in Retail Operations Management (NQF 5)
• if no certificate then at least 3 of the following skills programmes
• Explain the factors that impact on the bottom line of a W&R unit
• Supervise implementation of loss control measures
• Supervise stock counts
• Replenish stock in a retail business
• Manage stock holding procedure in a wholesale and retail outlet
• Pick stock in a distribution centre
• Move, pack and maintain stock
• Receive stock into a distribution centre
• Count stock for a stock-take
• Dispatch stock from a distribution centre
