Qualifications

• 2-3 years experience as a ware washer or in a Stewarding Department or equivalent.
• 1 year of supervisory experience strongly preferred.
• Flexible schedule including mornings, evenings and weekends.
• New York City Food Handlers Certification or related food safety training knowledge preferred.
• Operate ware washing equipment and handle extreme room temperatures.
• Direct subordinates to complete tasks and assist as needed.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and push up to 100 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Direct associates in completion of tasks as designated by assignment sheet or instructions from the Management Team.
• Set-up and clean dish machines and ensure proper operation and cleaning by staff.
• Insure proper cleaning, stacking and storing of glassware, flatware, china, hollowware and kitchen small wares.
• Assist in movement and distribution of glassware, flatware, hollowware, and china as directed.
• Maintain cleanliness of back-of-house areas including floors, prep tables, equipment, refrigerators, walls, and ceilings; manage garbage and recycling.
• Ensure proper storage and usage of chemicals.
• Adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies and standards.
• Assist in transporting assets between Pier Sixty & The Lighthouse.
• Assist culinary in plating during sit-down dinners and setting up coffee for events.
• Ensure proper setup of family meals.
• Prepare assignment sheets, punch lists, accident reports and logbook entries as needed.
• Perform other tasks and projects as assigned.

Salary Range: $23.00 To $27.00 Hourly

The Stewarding Supervisor works with the Executive Steward and Stewarding Manager in supervising and assisting the warewashing staff with cleaning and maintaining the back-of-the-house areas.

This is a hands on supervisory position.

This position works mostly evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Ability to direct subordinates to complete assigned tasks as well as assist in performing tasks that are normally delegated to subordinates is required.


• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push up to 100 lbs with or without assistance is required.


• Excellent communication skills are required.


• Bilingual strongly preferred.

Essential Job Functions

• Direct associates in completion of tasks as designated by assignment sheet or instructions from the Management Team.


• Set-up and clean dish machines; break down and clean dish machines and insure their proper operation and cleaning by staff.


• Insure the proper cleaning, stacking and storing of glassware, flatware, china, hollowware and kitchen small wares


• Assist in the movement and proper distribution of glassware, flatware, hollowware, and china as directed verbally or via requisition.


• Insure the cleanliness of back of the house areas including, but not limited to, floors, prep tables, kitchen equipment, refrigerators, walls, ceilings, as well as garbage removal and appropriate recycling of cardboard using the baler machine.


• Insure proper storage and usage of chemicals.


• Insure adherence of staff to regulatory, departmental and company policies and standards.


• Assist in the transport of perishable and non-perishable assets between Pier Sixty & The Lighthouse.


• Assist the culinary department in plating out during sit-down dinners as well as setting up and preparing coffee for events.


• Insure proper set up of family-meals.


• Administrative responsibilities including preparation of assignment sheets, punch lists and when necessary, accident reports and logbook entries.


• Perform other tasks and projects as assigned.
