Job summary

The Little America Hotel Salt Lake City is hiring a part-time Steward for the PM shift to support the kitchen team. You will operate dishwashing and pot washing equipment, keep the area clean and sanitized, and ensure all service ware is ready for the next shift.

Key responsibilities include end-of-shift cleaning, waste disposal, and following food safety and safety procedures. Teamwork and physical stamina are important for standing, lifting, and moving items in a fast-paced hotel kitchen.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a dishwasher or steward preferred.
• Experience operating commercial dishwashing equipment preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining cleanliness and safety.
• Availability to work PM/evening shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Physical ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift heavy items.
• Reliable attendance and a positive, team-oriented attitude.

Responsibilities

• Operate commercial dishwashing and pot washing equipment safely and efficiently while maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment.
• Clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, flatware, kitchen utensils, and other service ware according to established procedures.
• Clean and sanitize pots, pans, utensils, and small kitchen equipment used throughout the kitchen.
• Remove food debris from dishes, pots, pans, and other items before washing by hand or machine.
• Maintain the dishwashing area and kitchen throughout the PM shift to ensure a clean and organized work environment.
• Complete end-of-shift cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, washing, and sanitizing kitchen and back of house areas.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and properly dispose of waste in accordance with hotel policies and local regulations.
• Follow recycling guidelines and ensure waste is placed in the appropriate containers.
• Assist with kitchen closing duties and ensure all assigned areas are clean, organized, and ready for the next shift.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, chemical handling, and workplace safety procedures.
• Assist the kitchen team with other cleaning and support duties as assigned.

Steward PM Shift

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Steward to join our kitchen team for the PM shift . The Steward is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment throughout the evening and ensuring all dishes, pots, pans, utensils, glassware, flatware, and other kitchen and service items are properly cleaned and sanitized. This position plays an important role in supporting the kitchen team and ensuring the kitchen is properly cleaned and maintained at the end of each shift.

• Previous experience as a dishwasher, steward, or in a similar kitchen-support role preferred.
• Previous experience operating commercial or industrial dishwashing equipment preferred.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to work in a fast paced kitchen environment while maintaining cleanliness, organization, and safety.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing for extended periods, walking, bending, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting or carrying heavy items.
• Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and kitchen equipment.
• Availability to work PM, evening shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Reliable attendance, a strong work ethic, and a positive, team oriented attitude.
