Job summary

Blue Sky Hospitality Solutions is seeking a Kitchen Steward to support kitchen staff by maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen and storage areas, cleaning equipment, utensils, and work spaces.

The role involves cleaning ovens, kettles, mixers, drains, floors, and walls; dusting, mopping, scrubbing, and buffing production areas; sanitizing pots and pans; assisting with proper food storage and rotation; and following all safety policies to ensure a safe, efficient kitchen environment.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Food Handler Certification.
• Maintain high sanitation standards in all areas.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and proper storage of all china, glass and silver, ensuring sanitation.
• Assist kitchen staff in cleaning equipment, utensils and the work area.
• Clean and sanitize ovens, kettles, mixers, drains, sinks, floors and walls.
• Dust, mop, polish, scrub, wash and buff production areas and hallways.
• Sanitize pots, pans and kitchen utensils with proper solutions.
• Set up, clean and operate the silver burnishing machine as needed.
• Store cleaning chemicals safely and wear protective clothing.
• Assist with proper food storage and rotation.
• Keep work areas clean and organized to maximize efficiency.
• Follow hotel safety policies and report accidents or injuries promptly.

JOB ESSENTIALS

• Maintain cleanliness and proper storage of all china, glass and silver, and ensuring the highest standards of sanitation.
• Assist the kitchen staff in maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and all storage areas; specifically for cleaning all equipment, utensils, and the physical work area.
• Clean and sanitize all ovens, steam kettles, mixers and other kitchen equipment as well as all kitchen drains, sinks, floors, and walls.
• Clean, dust, seep, mop, polish, scrub, wash, strip, and buff kitchen and pastry shop production areas and hallways.
• Clean and sanitize all pots, pans, and kitchen utensils using the correct cleaning and rinsing solutions.
• Safely set-up, clean, and utilize the silver burnishing machine to clean, polish, sort, and transport silver following a daily or weekly schedule, and to place damaged or excessively worn pieces in a designated area for repair.
• Safely utilize and store all cleaning compounds, chemicals, and materials including soaking solution utilizing the correct protective clothing.
• Be responsible for assisting with proper food storage and rotation.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas in the kitchen and service side stations to maximize efficiency.
• Follow proper Hotel safety policies and procedures and use safety equipment as needed to ensure the safety of all team members during each shift. Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
• Ensure work area is clean and clear of standing water, debris or any objects that can obstruct the job duties from being performed safely, efficiently and effectively
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
