Job summary

Sonesta International Hotels Corporation is seeking a dedicated Steward to maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization across our kitchens, banquets, catering, and event spaces.

You will support culinary teams, operate dishwashing equipment, and help ensure a safe, efficient back-of-house operation in a fast-paced hospitality setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in stewarding, dishwashing, kitchen, restaurant, banquet, hotel, or hospitality environments preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced hospitality and kitchen setting; strong cleanliness and safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Wash, clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, silverware, cookware, and equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness across kitchens, dish areas, storage rooms, and banquet spaces.
• Support kitchen and banquet teams with clean equipment and supplies during service.
• Assist with waste removal, floor cleaning, and sanitation tasks.
• Operate dishwashing machines and stewarding equipment safely.
• Follow food safety regulations and HACCP guidelines at all times.
• Assist with banquet setup and breakdown for events.
• Monitor supplies and communicate inventory or maintenance needs to leadership.
• Collaborate with Culinary, Banquets, and F&B teams to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Contribute to a positive, team-oriented workplace aligned with Sonesta’s People People culture.

What you’ll be doing

• Wash, clean, sanitize, and properly store dishes, glassware, silverware, cookware, kitchen utensils, and Food & Beverage equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization across kitchens, dish areas, storage rooms, banquet spaces, and back-of-house operations.
• Support kitchen and banquet teams by ensuring clean equipment and supplies are available throughout service periods.
• Assist with waste removal, recycling, floor cleaning, deep cleaning tasks, and maintaining sanitation standards across Food & Beverage operations.
• Operate dishwashing machines and stewarding equipment safely and effectively.
• Follow food safety regulations, sanitation standards, HACCP guidelines, OSHA requirements, and hotel safety procedures at all times.
• Help organize and store china, glassware, silverware, cookware, and banquet equipment properly.
• Assist with banquet setup and breakdown support as needed for meetings, events, weddings, and catering functions.
• Monitor cleaning supply levels and communicate inventory or maintenance needs to leadership.
• Support a clean, safe, organized, and efficient kitchen environment for culinary and Food & Beverage teams.
• Work collaboratively with Culinary, Banquets, and Food & Beverage teams to support smooth daily operations and guest satisfaction.
• Help create a positive and team-oriented workplace aligned with Sonesta’s People People culture.
• Any other duties as assigned.

What great looks like

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous stewarding, dishwashing, kitchen, restaurant, banquet, hotel, or hospitality experience preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced hospitality and kitchen environment. Strong attention to cleanliness, sanitation, organization, and safety standards. Ability to operate dishwashing equipment and stewarding tools safely and effectively. Strong teamwork and communication skills with a positive, service-focused attitude. Dependable, proactive, and able to follow operational procedures consistently. Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed in hospitality operations. A passion for hospitality, teamwork, cleanliness, and supporting exceptional guest experiences behind the scenes.
