Job description

Join to apply for the Steward role at Metz Culinary Management.

POSITION SUMMARY: Assist in the set-up, operation, and cleanup of the restaurant's interior and exterior. Wash, store, and stock all plateware, glassware, utensils, cups, bowls, pots, pans, and other smallwares and equipment. Maintain the dishwashing machine and keep the area clean and sanitary.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Report to work on time and be present at the dishwashing station as scheduled. Maintain a clean uniform.
  2. Clean front of the house areas, including floors, bar mats, windows, trash cans, and restrooms before opening.
  3. Perform routine maintenance on the exterior of the building according to established schedules.
  4. Set up and break down the dish machine daily, ensuring it is clean and functioning correctly. Report any defects.
  5. Wash, store, and stock all dishware and equipment to meet business needs.
  6. Check water temperature during dishwashing to ensure proper operation.
  7. Remove trash and sanitize trash cans regularly. Replace linen bags as needed.
  8. Assist in spot cleaning floors, walls, and furnishings to maintain a safe environment.
  9. Help store received food, equipment, and supplies.
  10. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in all work areas.
  11. Follow all safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions immediately.
  12. Complete station closing duties and assist in closing the kitchen and restaurant.
  13. Adhere to all safety, health, and sanitation regulations.
  14. Support other Back-of-House roles as needed to ensure a seamless guest experience.
  15. Perform all duties as outlined in the employee training packet for Stewards.
Job Requirements:
  1. Stand and move at a well-paced tempo for up to four to eight hours.
  2. Bend, stoop, lift, and carry up to 50-100 pounds regularly.
  3. Communicate effectively and listen attentively.
  4. Work in wet, cold, hot, noisy, and odorous environments.
  5. Use cut gloves for safety as required.
  6. Maintain good grooming habits.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. At least 6 months of general labor or restaurant experience preferred.
  2. Effective communication skills in English.
  3. Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
