Job summary

Epping Forest Yacht & Country Club in Florida is seeking a Steward to join our Culinary team. This role maintains a clean, sanitary kitchen and supports overall kitchen efficiency under the supervision of the Sous Chef. You will help ensure all dishes, cookware, and equipment are ready for service.

We value dependable attendance, safety, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Weekend, holiday, and split shifts are common, with opportunities for growth within Gate Hospitality Group.

Responsibilities

• Operate dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.

• Remove trash and waste materials at shift end.

The Opportunity

Epping Forest Yacht & Country Club is seeking a Steward to join our Culinary team. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen environment by ensuring all dishes, utensils, cookware, glassware, and kitchen equipment are properly cleaned and available for service. The Steward supports the overall efficiency of kitchen operations and reports directly to the Sous Chef and Executive Sous Chef.

The Day-to-Day

• Maintain punctual and dependable attendance.
• Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and split shifts.
• Operate dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Become familiar with kitchen machinery, equipment, and associated safety features.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain knowledge of hazardous chemicals and applicable safety data sheets.
• Bring in trash cans and floor mats at the beginning of each shift.
• Set up dishwasher equipment for operation and report maintenance concerns to leadership.
• Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, glassware, silverware, cookware, and kitchen utensils.
• Maintain proper silverware cleaning procedures and sanitation standards.
• Participate in kitchen cleaning schedules and sanitation programs.
• Assist kitchen staff with operational tasks as requested.
• Remove trash and waste materials at the completion of the shift.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, floors, mats, and equipment.
• Support efficient kitchen operations by performing additional duties assigned by culinary leadership.

What Sets You Apart

• Ability to effectively communicate with the Sous Chef and Executive Sous Chef.
• Dishwashing equipment knowledge preferred.
• Valid US driver's license required.
• Basic food preparation experience is a plus.
• Understanding of cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety standards.
• Ability to work on your feet for the duration of a typical shift.
• Ability to lift, move, and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform trash removal and other physically demanding tasks.
• Ability to work in hot and wet environments.
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, and split shifts.
