Job Summary
The Sterilization Technician is responsible for keeping dental instruments clean, sanitized, organized and ready for use.
Key Responsibilities
- Familiar with and follows OSHA standards.
- Ensures that instruments are sterilized as soon as feasible as they are brought into central sterilization.
- Maintains the cleanliness and order of all areas of sterilization.
- Keeps accurate logs of spore testing. Uses the system in place to monitor and track the instruments through sterilization.
- Keeps the dental director apprised of any issues or concerns with equipment, supplies or procedures related to sterilization.
- Is responsive to special requests or needs of the providers with regard to instruments and handpieces.
- All other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- IAHCSMM sterilization certification. Must obtain within first 90 days of employment.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a healthcare setting. Education may be substituted for lack of experience.
