About Us

As part of SNHMC Surgical Services, the Endoscopy unit features multiple procedure rooms where staff perform between 12-28 outpatient (80%) and inpatient (20%) procedures daily. Procedures include GI, pulmonology, and outpatient bone marrow biopsies, with most patients receiving anesthesia. We work flexible shifts and take call shifts to provide emergent care to our community.

Job Overview

The Endoscopy Procedural Technician, as a member of the Patient Care Services team, will complete a competency-based orientation to serve both inpatient and outpatient populations requiring endoscopy. You will assist the endoscopist in performing safe procedures, working under the supervision of the circulating RN, Resource Nurse, and unit managers.

Responsibilities

• Assist with room turnover.
• Maintain inventory and routine care.
• Reprocess and maintain endoscopic equipment according to infection control standards and manufacturer instructions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• LN A or NH Medical Technologist registration preferred at hire or within 30 days.
• BLS certification preferred at hire or within 30 days.
• Certification as a Central Services Endoscopy Technician is preferred but not required.
• Prior experience as an Endoscopy Procedural Technician or in sterile processing is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical and technical terminology required.

Unit-Specific Competencies

• Within 30 days: Endoscope reprocessing/disinfection, understanding digestive tract and procedures.
• Within 90 days: Familiarity with tools, equipment, and materials management.
• Within 180 days: Equipment troubleshooting, assisting in complex procedures like ERCP, Bronchoscopy, EBUS.
• Within 1 year: Proficiency in routine GI procedures and complex procedures.
