Job summary

Geisinger Wyoming Valley is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for night shift. Full-time role with a $3,000 signing bonus if eligible. Requires a High School Diploma or GED and CRCST certification within 18 months of hire or state grandfathering.

Training provided to obtain certification, with compensation based on related experience. Responsibilities include cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, packaging, inventory control, and providing sterile instruments for procedures.

Responsibilities

• Clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, sterilize, and store reusable surgical instruments and medical equipment.
• Collect used equipment for sorting and decontamination.
• Manually clean supplies and operate decontamination equipment.
• Prepare and pack decontaminated supplies for sterilization.
• Monitor and operate sterilization equipment; maintain records.
• Act as a preceptor for new employees.

Job Summary:

$3000 Signing Bonus, if eligible. Full-time; Nights 10:30pm - 7am. REQUIRES: High School Diploma or GED, CRCST certification through Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) required within 18 months of hire or must meet state grandfathering guidelines. Job Duties:

• Responsible for the cleaning, decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instruments and medical equipment, ensuring their proper functionality and sterility to prevent infection within a healthcare facility, adhering to strict guidelines and protocols established by regulatory agencies.
• Collecting used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for sorting and decontamination.
• Manually cleaning supplies of contaminants, removing waste matter, and operating and maintaining decontamination equipment.
• Preparing and packing decontaminated supplies for sterilization.
• Monitoring and operating sterilization equipment.
• Acts as a preceptor new employees.
• Examining supplies meticulously to ensure they are properly cleaned and sanitized.
• Testing and reporting any issues or problems with the sterilization equipment.
• Sterilizing, preparing, wrapping, and organizing equipment into instrument trays for use during medical procedures.
• Preparing and delivering all necessary equipment and instruments for surgeries, examinations, medical procedures, and medical carts.
• Maintaining records of sterilization procedures, sterilized items, equipment maintenance, and supplies.
• Controlling the inventory, reordering supplies, and checking expiration dates.
