Job summary

BJC Healthcare is seeking a Sterile Processing role at St. Louis Children’s Hospital to support instrument processing, decontamination and distribution. You will work with CSPD and surgical services to ensure timely sterilization and supply distribution within a busy pediatric setting.

The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to sterilization standards, and on-the-job training for staff, with a Monday–Friday schedule and daytime hours at the St. Louis campus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• <2 years of experience in sterile processing or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assembles and processes instrument sets, trays, supplies and linen; prioritizes trays and tasks according to the surgery schedule.
• Utilizes and troubleshoots steam sterilizers.
• Serves as the primary coordinator between surgical services and central supply sterile processing department in the assigned clinical service area.
• Provides training and guidance to staff.

Role Purpose

Assists the supervisor in providing quality, cost-effective decontamination, sterilization, and distribution services. Trains and directs CSPD staff, problem solves equipment failures and functions as a charge person in the absence of the Supervisor.
