Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to support decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments. You will ensure proper workflow, test equipment, and maintain a clean, compliant work area in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Responsibilities include operating Censitrac tracking, verifying loads, and assisting in inventory and distribution for the OR. Training to Certified Central Service Technician is provided within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 1 year SPD experience.
• Ability to communicate and follow directions; basic computer skills.
• Certified Central Service Tech within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Decontamination of instruments and equipment following procedures.
• Assembly/packaging/wrapping of instrument sets and tray preparation.
• Sterilization testing and load validation using biological, chemical, and mechanical indicators.
• Use Censitrac Instrument Tracking system to log and track sterilization cycles.
• Inventory, storage, and distribution of sterile items to OR and departments.
• Lead and support daily workflow, communicate equipment issues to managers/biomed.
• Participate in quality improvement and staff training activities.
