Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Tacoma, WA is seeking a Central Service Technician to perform inventory, decontamination, inspection, maintenance and assembly of surgical devices and sterile instrumentation. Qualifications

• 1 year of experience with CS, OR instrumentation reprocessing or related area.
• Completion of Central Service Training course required by date of hire/transfer.
• Registered Central Service Technician or Sterile Processing Distribution Technician within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of KFHPW Mission and CSR department goals.
• Identify unsafe conditions/practice and report them.
• Practice safety, infection control and employee health policies and standards.
• Identify education needs and complete mandatory training.
• Participate in error reporting and continuous improvement of processes.
• Assist with instrument inventory, scheduling and provider needs; coordinate exchanges to optimize access.
• Deliver, pick up and receive reusable instruments and equipment safely.
• Disassemble, clean, disinfect and sterilize reusable instruments and medical devices.
• Reassemble, inspect and test multi-part devices for safe function.
• Assemble, package, process and store medical supplies and equipment; distribute reprocessed products.
• Operate department equipment safely and monitor performance indicators.
• Perform sterilizer cycles and verify sterilization with indicators; halt unsafe processes if needed.
