Job summary

University Hospital - UMC in Louisville seeks a Sterile Processing Department Technician to support OR teams by providing sterile instrumentation through decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, and dispatch. You will deliver equipment, maintain case carts, and ensure packaging integrity and safety standards.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, at least 1 year of healthcare experience (preferred), and certification within 12 months of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (required).
• Minimum 1 year of healthcare setting experience preferred.
• National Sterile Processing certification required within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephone and assist callers with needed items.
• Assemble supplies and place into case carts for procedures.
• Deliver sterile and non-sterile instrumentation and supplies to units.
• Maintain back-up case carts for Surgery Department.
• Perform decontamination, cleaning, packaging, and sterilization of instruments.
• Operate SPD equipment and monitor sterilization processes.
• Support department organization, safety, and HIPAA compliance.
