Job summary

Lexington Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to support the reprocessing of instrumentation for the hospital and affiliate offices, including decontamination, cleaning, assembly, packaging, and sterilizing instruments and trays.

Responsibilities include case cart preparation, delivering instruments and restocking OR supplies, with cross-training across SPD areas. Must obtain CBSPD certification within 1 year and have a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Must obtain CBSPD-Technician from IAHCSMM or CBSPD from CSPDT within 1 year of employment.
• Basic computer skills and aptitude are required.

Responsibilities

• Cleans instruments and supplies using accepted techniques and procedures.
• Prepares instruments, procedure trays and instrument sets for sterilization. Inspects instruments and wraps correctly and in the appropriate size wrapper.
• Uses knowledge of steam and Sterrad to determine proper method of sterilization and follows loading techniques.
• Operates equipment used in cleaning, decontamination and sterilization (steam, Sterrad, sonic washers, washer decontaminators, cart washers).
• Assembles instruments and supplies for OR procedures and restocks SPD inventory.
