Job summary

MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, ME is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to clean, decontaminate, and prepare surgical instruments and patient care equipment for procedures. You will follow manufacturer instructions and departmental procedures, collaborate with interdepartmental staff to prioritize workload, and locate and pack instruments for pickup or delivery.

Certification within two years of hire is required; prior sterile processing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Certification as CRCST or CSPDT within two years of hire.
• Strong attention to detail and infection control adherence.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Prior experience in sterile processing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow instructions and procedures to clean, decontaminate, and prepare instruments.
• Collaborate with staff to prioritize workload and meet schedules.
• Locates and packages instruments for pickup or delivery.
• Operate decontamination and sterilization equipment per standards.
• Monitor sterilization indicators and maintain records for QA.
