Job summary

InterMed in Portland, Maine, is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech for our ambulatory surgical center. You will decontaminate, assemble, wrap and sterilize instruments and supplies to support the operating room team, maintain strict inventory, and ensure the highest sterility standards for every case conducted in the center.

This role requires SPD certification, a high school diploma, proficiency in medical terminology, and at least two years of ASC or similar experience, plus BLS.

Qualifications

• High school graduate.
• SPD Certification.
• Proficiency and understanding of medical terminology.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center or similar setting.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates, wraps and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies and equipment.
• Sorts, inspects, and assembles surgical instruments and equipment.
• Selects appropriate supplies and equipment.
• Anticipated surgical instrumentation and supply needs.
• Checks equipment for working order and reports unsafe conditions to Lead or Manager.
• Maintains and tracks sterility and handling of instruments.
