Job summary

Qualifications

  • Education requirement as listed: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: at least 1 year in sterile processing preferred.
  • Licenses/Certifications: CRST/HSPA or CBSPD preferred; BLS required.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate, clean, inspect, and prepare surgical instruments and equipment following manufacturer guidelines and infection prevention standards.
  • Operate washer/disinfectors and other decontamination equipment to ensure safe instrument processing.
  • Assemble instrument trays using count sheets and tray contents lists.
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness and functionality and coordinate repairs as needed.
  • Perform sterilization and high-level disinfection using approved methods.
  • Maintain organized, sterile storage and work areas; deliver processed instruments to designated storage locations.
  • Complete documentation to ensure traceability and compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement and stay current on sterilization practices.

Shift: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 10:30 am - 7:00 pm, for 80 hours per pay period. There is a holiday and weekend rotation.

Responsibilities
  • Decontaminate, clean, inspect, and prepare surgical instruments and equipment followingmanufacturerguidelines and infection prevention standards.
  • Operate washer/disinfectors and other decontamination equipment to ensure safe, effective instrument processing.
  • Accurately assemble instrument trays using count sheets and tray content lists.
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness and functionality, removing damageditemsand coordinating repairs as needed.
  • Perform sterilization and high-level disinfection using steam, vaporized hydrogen peroxide, and other approved methods.
  • Configure, test, monitor, andmaintainsterilization equipment to ensureoptimalperformance and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain organized, sterile storage and work areas that support safe handling and distribution of supplies.
  • Deliver processed instruments and supplies todesignatedstorage locations fortimelyclinical use.
  • Complete detailed documentation throughout the reprocessing cycle to ensure traceability, quality assurance, and compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and stay current on sterilization, infection prevention, and industry best practices.
Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • At least one (1) year of sterile processing experience is preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician– The Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or Central Sterile Processing Distribution Tech (CSPDT) – Certified Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution Inc. (CBSPD) preferred.
  • Mustpossessand maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Associationrequired.
  • IL &IA Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training in state(s) where providing care required within 90 days of hire.
  • IL & IA Adult Dependent Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training in state(s) where providing care required within 90 days of hire.
