Job summary

AdventHealth in Texas seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to support instrument decontamination, inspection, and tray assembly. You will maintain department efficiency and safety while transporting instruments to operating rooms and care areas.

The ideal candidate has 18+ months of Sterile Processing experience, CRCST or CSPDT certification, and strong adherence to infection control practices. BLS preferred; full‑time day/weekend schedule in Texas.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Sterilization Standards and instrument processing required.
• Experience with Surgical Instrumentation and infection control emphasized.
• Proficiency with basic computer systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport and decontaminate instruments per safety protocols.
• Inspect and assemble instrument trays to standards and guidelines.
• Mentor less experienced staff and participate in improvement projects.

Job Description:

Performs other duties as assigned.Adheres to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Facilitates communication and collaboration within the department to enhance workflow and efficiency. Transports contaminated and sterile surgical instruments and supplies to and from operating rooms and patient care areas. Decontaminates and inspects surgical instruments for cleanliness and defects to ensure patient safety. Keeps instruments and supplies organized and in designated locations to maintain department cleanliness and productivity. Inspects and assembles instrument trays according to manufacturer guidelines and industry standards. Serves as a resource expert and mentor for less experienced Sterile Processing staff. Monitors sterilization practices to ensure compliance with standards and keeps accurate records of sterilizer loads. Utilizes knowledge of sterilization parameters and takes corrective action if parameters are not met. Attends continuing education seminars and in-services on new equipment and instrumentation to maintain competency.Participates or leads in department Performance Improvement projects.
