Trinity Health in Grand Rapids, MI seeks a Sterile Processing Tech I to decontaminate, assemble, package and sterilize instruments for hospital and affiliated facilities. The role supports efficient case setup and anticipates health care provider requests to meet patient care needs.

Responsibilities include decontaminating, assembling, packaging, sterilizing, and stocking instruments while maintaining workflow and equipment readiness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification in Central Service Processing within eighteen (18) months of hire.
• One year of general work experience.

Responsibilities

• Identify and decontaminate instruments using washer/decontaminator equipment and proper hand-washing techniques.
• Assemble instruments ensuring cleanliness and function.
• Prepare instruments for sterilization with proper packaging, rigid container systems, and wrapping techniques.
• Sterilize instruments by loading carts and operating steam or gas plasma sterilizers.
• Handle sterilized instruments for storage and distribution.
• Maintain efficient flow of processing procedures and anticipate health care provider requests.
• Prioritize instrument and supply needs using surgery lists, Sterile Processing Microsystem, and inventory levels.

Position Purpose:

Provides hospital and affiliated facilities with processed materials and equipment by executing established procedures fordecontamination, assembly, packaging, and sterilization. Maintains efficient flow of processing procedures, throughappropriate caseset-up, anticipation of health care providerrequestsand patient care needs.

What the Sterile Processing Tech I will do:

• Properly identifies and decontaminates instruments through use of washer/decontaminator equipment and proper hand-washing techniques.

• Assembles instruments correctly, ensuring appropriate cleanliness and function is achieved.

• Prepares instruments for sterilization through proper packaging, rigid container system, and wrapping techniques.

• Sterilizes instruments by correctly loading carts and operating sterilizers (Steam Sterilizer and Gas Plasma).

• Properly handles sterilized instruments for storage and distribution.

• Maintains efficient flow of processing procedures, through appropriate case cart set-up, anticipation of health care provider requests and patient care needs.

• Anticipates and prioritizes instrument and supply needs using surgery lists, Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM) computer system and inventory levels of instruments.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Certification in Central Service Processing required within eighteen (18) months of date of hire.

• One year of general work experience.
